We don't cut a ton of big brush but it will take down 4" trees pretty quick, 30 seconds will create a lot of little pieces. How quickly would it take care of a 4 or 5 inch diameter tree? Posted 19:14 (#4780123 - in reply to #4779944) Subject: RE: Best small dozer for farm use?Ħ50j series deere. We tried a 4 in 1 bucket for a week and while a bit more useful we went with a toothed bucket and a grapple bucket. Plus we have a brush cutter that will make mulch of 6" or smaller trees, we use the pallet forks quite a bit as well as well as a grapple. The steel tracked highlift would still be my preference for burning brush piles, but our Bobcat 320 will do just about everything our 555 did. We put 100 hours on it the first 6 months we owned it. I think over 6 years we maybe put 400 hours on it and over 100 of that was a year we did some land clearing. Posted 19:03 (#4780104 - in reply to #4779944) Subject: RE: Best small dozer for farm use? Tiny dozers will make you want to bang your head against a wall unless you've got a lot of patience. I wouldn't want one smaller than 90 horse or so. Just a thought small trees can be taken out and pushed in a pile with one machine and you don't have to truck it, we have both and the Dozer only gets used either when it's a decent job or it's wet. I don't know what u want to do but if your not grading and just doing maitinance you may be better off with nice 4wd backhoe. I don't think you will want anything smaller than the 850 for what you want to do. Posted 17:56 (#4779987 - in reply to #4779944) Subject: RE: Best small dozer for farm use? I can say a D5G will burn 50 gals in the same work as a 650J will burn 35 gals. They're all going to be hydro and nice to run. Really don't think there is a bad small dozer.
